As states reopen, a debate emerges: Are gyms 'essential'?

more essential than liquor stores and pot shops...true democratic values - getting drunk and getting high...

In normal times, sure.
But in times of a pandemic, people can exercise at home during the crisis and then go back to gyms later

I normally never go to a gym. But I need physical therapy and it's too expensive for me so I wish I could get to one. Resistance bands just ain't cutting it. It like my strength will never return. I need leg presses.

Gyms are about as essential as in-person church services... no offense, but it's true. People can workout at home, and they can watch services online.

not essential

businesses are going to start making them selves into services that provide esential services in order to survive. I can imagine car dealerships offering banking services, retail stores providing groceries and barber shops teaming up with medical facielities
Essential to the Pocketbook of the Gym's owners. Go outside! You can watch Girls/boys there too, and it's even free.
