I'm in the medical field! Mentally ill patients are not a danger to others. A small percent of these mentally ill patients are a danger to them self. Mentally ill patients are not capable of making complex decisions. This person does not show that he is mentally ill. This person was able to make complex decisions that led him to travel incognito. Mentally ill people does not have cognitive abilitie for ADL's (activity of daily living).

You people will find that this was was never diagnosed with any mental illness. Without a medical diagnoses you cannot claim mental illness. For a killer to claim mental illness puts those who are mentally ill in a bad situation. Majority of mentally ill people are law abiding folks. Some work and live off the government. Ninety percent of my patients with mental illness are non-black. Mentally ill people do to school. Mentally ill people do not go to traditional colleges. Mentally ill people go to alternative schools with very small classrooms. So before throwing out the mentally ill card, know the characteristics of a mentally ill person.

when it is stated "he suffered from mental illness", it makes me think who in their right mind does these horrid acts. Mental illness seems to be thrown out there when someone kills. It's unfair to those who really do suffer and are seeking help in dealing with the illness

Here we are again. We have someone who has mental health issues and he kills two people. I say that, as it appears there is evidence he did so. As a nation we have never dealt well with mental health. One would think we would be able to do better.
