Has it dawned on anyone that there's a limit to the number of 'asylum' claims that can logistically be processed, whether it's at a border checkpoint or any other port of entry? Seems what's happening now is for nothing more than to completely inundate and push the system into failure by clogging up the asylum process and immigration court dockets with claims that likely don't even qualify for asylum (economic migrants).

Re: "...Dems call for investigation after migrant teen dies in US custody...

5 children...ranging in age from infant to 16 have now died in / around I.C.E. custody!
How many more kids need to die, as emperor_wannabe Trumpis.Maximus basks in the supposed glories of his, ('billion+-dollar-a-mile'), wall?

Well that'll show 'em.... they're gonna stomp their feet and put on their pouty-face!

Some folks need to understand that international law requires someone seeking asylum to accept it in the first place it is offered. In this case that would be Mexico.

If they were murdered we have a serious problem. If they died of disease they were probably sick when they got here. In that case the death is saddening but the biggest problem is spreading the disease.

Non-citizens can show up at the border and receive healthcare within 72 hours. Veterans need to call an 800 number and wait. Where is the congressional outrage on both sides of the aisle regarding this?

    But...Republicans are pro-life! Lol what a joke.

As much as I despise President Trump and his administration the deaths of these immigrants can't always be blamed on maltreatment. Most of these immigrants have never really received any decent health care in their lives. They have traveled long distances, eating and drinking god knows what. They probably have been exposed to less then ideal travel conditions where they probably have slept and cleaned themselves in filthy places. So while I feel for them their deaths unless by violent or inhumane means aren't the fault of our country.

It's time to move beyond investigations!

If I thought the Dems pushing the investigation were seriously interested in the boy I would be more in favor of it, but somehow I suspect it's just another "Blame Trump" ploy.

I really believe it's more O'bama's fault -- the stories of easy entry and lots of free stuff were spread during his term and we're just now seeing the results of poor people hearing (and believing) "streets of gold" stories.

This is fairly good news. It will provide some measure of deterrence against the savage horde trying to invade the US.

Seeking asylum is not a crime. Neither is showing up at the border near death. However, if someone dies on your doorstep just after they rang your bell, are you criminally liable when they expire in your entryway?

I would imagine this young man did not arrive at the US border in peak top physical health. It is very sad, let's wait to see what the investigation reveals.

    What's happening is WRONG!
For all those pushing the Christian button???

You all forgot to read the bible!

None of this was necessary. The cruelty IS the point, and it is evil.
