THIS is what happens when sex crimes aren't taken seriously by the police and courts!

First of all, prayers for the victims and there family's following this evil act. Secondly a Note to the reporters..... Your bias(or ignorance) is obvious. The title uses the term "assault rifle" this term has a specific definition. ( An assault rifle is a selective fire rifle ). I encourage you to hold your reporting to a more objective standard and refrain from publishing falsehoods.

Guess he didn't believe in the hippocratic oath . .

No! New York City's laws against "assault weapons" didn't stop this from happening?!? How could that be?? Oh - yeah - laws don't mean squat to someone committing a criminal act. Make a million laws - those who won't follow them will break them all while people who follow those laws are slaughtered. Come ON New Yorkers - you are Smarter than your politicians - aren't you?

It's illegal to own an "assault rifle" in New York.

Four prior arrests but he couldn't be deported back to Nigeria. Oh our rich multicultural tapestry!

I can hear the trolls now,.

"Okay, okay, he wasn't a Muslim but at least he was BLACK."

Why was this innocuous comment removed? Is there an NRA zealot among the moderators?

'Apparently he was formerly a practicing doctor there, but has a criminal record for stalking and sexual abuse, and lived in a men's shelter for a time.
I wonder how he got that gun.....'

an ar15 is not an assault rifle you morons -quit calling it that

  • Jeff Chang

The shooter did not use an assault rifle nor an assault weapon. The gun used was a rifle compliant with then NY Safe Act.

was successful in the computer engineering field. His wife of 24 years left him and he found himself in a position to need aides your assist him, to keep him out of a nursing home and in HIS home. There are MANY factors to this story, but, I will keep it short. My brother didn't understand the Trust Fund and Medicaid requirements, so Medicaid was being shut off unless we laid $4600 into the trust fund. We did. They reinstated his Medicaid only to shut it off, again, in two days! This time they wanted FIVE years of bank account records, which would mean my brother having to submit account information from his abusive, ex-wife. It was impossible to do. We explained rid to the Medicaid office,
but they would not make any provisions. Why? Because they interpreted electronic transfers as an ASSET transfer. My brother wasn't hiding anything and had been strait up with them. One supervisor told my brother he could just "lay there in that bed and die" and "they could deny his Medicaid for $1, if they wanted to". So....
My brother has NO assistance to pay for aides to come in and help him in and out of bed, housekeeping, meals, etc. Medicaid REFUSED to work with us and give them what we had access to. So... Now, in addition, to his medical issues -my brother is going through immense anxiety because he is also going to have to give up his house (adapted for him) and move to a DIFFERENT state in order to have the care he needs. They were heartless and incompetent. This is NOT the way it should be. My brother has fought for decades to be independent -could have been on the "system" all these years, but didn't. When he NEEDS help to SURVIVE, he is told. He can just lay there and die -if that is what he chooses. NO! independence is what he WANTS, but life dealt him cards that prevents that without help.

Every other civilized country on the planet has sane gun laws and few gun deaths. The only reason the US doesn't do the same is because we have the republican party - a party that specializes in making things worse.

  • Mr. Jennifer

Keep it real people......blame the shooter, not the gun.

For the sake of accuracy, one news service said it was an M-16. An M-16 is a military weapon. It was an Armalite-15. Armalite is where the term AR comes from. It was also called a "powerful weapon". While it can be deadly, the AR round is 1mm larger than a 22 round. That being said, it is a shame a nutcase like this has access to a weapon of any kind. And how does someone walk into a hospital carrying a rifle?????

  • YellowParrott

With his "background", why would the hospital hire him?

  • Weather3014

Nigerian national with 4 arrests. Not apparently working for about a year. What kind of visa did this guy have? How many misdemeanor arrests are you allowed to have before being deported?

  • WH

I suppose all medical staff need to have assault weapons added to all of the crash carts.

  • DumpTrump

Just another good guy with a gun...until he's not.

  • Bill

AR15 is not an assult rifle!

  • sksood

you people don't seem to understand what a gun is all about; you seem to believe that a GUN is the only response to any situation. sad that an allegedly educated population is so totally ignorant.

  • One Man

And why did he have that limited state issued permit?
