Any body still running WIndows XP at this point deserves what they get! It's 2017 for christs sake! Upgrade to Windows 10 or get a new PC.

Remember how Trump bragged he knows more about hacking than anyone.
Here's his chance to wave one of his so called magic wand solutions and fix everything tremendously fast and better than anyone! -
I was hit with a ransomware attack several years ago and lost all my files which fortunately were backed up on an external drive. It's a major worldwide problem with no single solution yet available. Upgrading to the latest hardware and software along with anti-virus protection only goes so far and doesn't provide a guarantee that this problem won't still occur. Constant vigilance and common sense regarding clicking on email links and surfing the web may be the most effective means to secure your system. Read it before you click it.

Chinese Militants develop adware and spyware to attack computer mainframes and servers on a world wide basis. They concoct common trojan horse viruses to penetrate server drives and hard drives to any digital device.

What?
Let go of My Oreos!! -
it's all Obama's fault

All that on a dial-up......I'm impressed!

Seeing how this attack began in Ukraine hitting government, infrastructure and business computers, it might be a Russian related thing that they lost control of.
-
Lost in all this is the fact that this malware was created by an American gov't organization. A organization evil enough to create this, but too incompetent to protect it.
One day, soon, we will see this kind of attack, but used differently. There will be no ransom. The systems will simply be frozen, the data deleted, with no warnings and offers to get it back. Then visualize this even further, imagine what happens when this hits a computer and its redundancies that control the pressure valves in a oil pipeline, or the pumps for cooling a nuclear reactor.

Turtle boy you just lost your base....Good riddance to BAD Rubbish.....

But Trump love leakers! no matter the damage done!

Anyone who hasn't got proper protection in place against this stuff by now deserves whatever they get. It's like leaving the factory doors wide open overnight.

I'm all for getting rid of Bitcoin if it can be used by criminals.

DHS has released a notice that this is also spreading throughout the United States.

I would expect these companies to have backed up and encrypted files. They should also keep their control systems off the internet. After the last major hack I would expect people to be wiser.

Disinformation from Russia..They magically prevented it??.. More than likely because they already have the code..
"Look, we didn't do it.. it hit us too.. but we are too clever and stopped it." KGB manual.. page 75.
Yup, strong dislike for Russia..

One thing China does right is their national firewall. Even though they use it for nefarious purposes in silencing free speech and limiting access to global media content, it is very useful in stopping or limiting these kinds of attacks.
Since Ukraine was hit hardest, you can bet it came from Russia.
