The game must go on because as soon as we stop holding events or doing things from fear of these people, they'll have won.

You, at GMA should heed your own advice. You spread the hatred every morning. Veins pop out when speaking against Trump. Try reporting the news instead of bullying. Bad example
-
This will be adult baseball when the teams are mixed --Democrats and Republicans by draw on teams together, with women included (whoops no women on the Republican team) and there are no practice sessions with lobbyists. Until then it's more of the same that we, BTW, have to pay for.

Wow,
Now the must have more guns, gunman are turning on their enablers?
Whoever thought that would happen it was supposed to be the unwashed
unarmed masses that suffered. Sometimes there is justice. -
What happened at the ball park yesterday was scary and these people are not just Republican or Democrat, they are human beings. It would be nice for us to take a break and just all be fellow Americans for a day. I do not agree with Republicans but the instant I heard about this shooting they were not Republicans, they were fellow Americans being attacked and I feared for their safety. I will be watching the game tonight and cheering on both teams.

"We need to play this game"? No, you need to quit playing games on both sides of the aisle with your politics at the expense of your country A tragedy no doubt, but the bigger tragedy is how our leaders in the two party system have failed us for the last few decades. Year after year you bring our government to the brink of closing down and you want to tell us how important it is for the game to be played. Stick it!

Hey, I know it won't last. But what is wrong with taking a 2-day break from complaining about "the other side".

"If we don't play this game, it’s been played a hundred years, then we let these people ... change the way we live in this country forever, and we're not going to allow that to happen,"

The rest of us have to deal it with it everyday. When we drop our kids off at school, go to a movie theater, go to the mall, go to a park, go to a concert, go to work, drive next to some road rage nut, etc.... And we don't have special security all around us. And Congress hasn't done a damn thing to make anybody safer, but you can bet they'll be very well protected while playing this game. ( I wonder how much that will cost the taxpayers, just so they can play the game). There'll probably be 4 cops for each player there. And during that game I wonder how many other Americans will be shot elsewhere in America? -
Glad that Congress has decided to continue shirking their duties to play baseball while our nation is under attack by foreign enemies and our highest office has been compromised,
-
Maybe now we will somehow realize how petty we all are and can just say "Wow, this isn't working for anyone."

Wish they had the same attitude about "“Give me your tired, your poor,Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

Not that anyone in authority cares what I think, but what about instead of Democrat v Republican, we did an "East-West" game in the continued spirit of bipartisanship.
-
The game will be shown on CSpan this evening for those interested.
-
I wish the GOP was as hellbent on doing meaningful work for this country as some silly baseball. Sad state of affairs when the GOP treats Americans and America so poorly, yet has the time and energy to play with their balls.

One headline, We have to back off on the hostility between the major parties.
The Media, all media has to quit feeding the flames, whether you like one party or the other,
until the hostility cools Our Nation is Hurt, come together as Americans.
When I went to war in Vietnam in early 1965, we were every color, creed and background,
we are all Marine Brothers, and we are all Americans, we did trust each other and most of us came home.
Some of the best days any more are when we come together for a little while,
to sit and talk and enjoy the others company. -
I applaud them for going ahead and not letting this tradition die. It is for charity and of course builds bipartisanship and fellowship, something w could use mush more of in Washington and in the general population.
-
"And we take days on in America, not off". I know this not a laughing matter but this coming from a congressman made me LOL.
I'm glad to hear it's going ahead, but I'd never heard of it before. You'd think they'd would have publicized it more, especially with all the bitter partisanship going on in Washington. Republicans and Democrats getting together for charity is a great thing.
